All people who are planning to marry/become pregnant (especially relatives) and/or in their families have cases of congenital diseases can be offered genetic counseling in order to assess risk of the occurrence of hereditary diseases in the offspring, as well as ways to prevent them. It is also necessary to explain the benefits and limitations of various genetic tests.
